Mochi dessert

I went into W H Lung recently (see my other article on asian/oriental food places in Manchester) and for curiosity’s sake, I checked the small freezer located near the fresh vegetables. This normally contained ice cream, or during the Lunar New Year, snow skin mooncake but that day, it also contained boxes of mochi dessert! I say mochi dessert, as it’s not actually ice cream mochi since it’s made from coconut milk. They had boxes of just one flavour, but I figured I’d give the assorted flavours box a try first.

The box contains 6 mochi of different flavours:

  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry
  • Black sesame
  • Mango
  • Vanilla
  • Green Tea

Each one is individually wrapped (sorry, I ate the green tea one before taking this photo).

The mochi is really soft to bite into and not too cold on my teeth.

I quite liked the green tea flavour, so I’m looking forward to trying the other flavours. The box itself costed £3.60 which is fairly expensive for a dessert but not bad considering I don’t think you can get ice cream mochi elsewhere. (If you can, let me know in the comments below).

Yeah, it’s like 66 calories per piece? XD

If you ever spot ice-cream mochi made by Little Moons give them a go. They are way yummier than these ones. Not sure if you can get the ice-cream outside London but I know they supply YoSushi’s chocolate and cheesecake mochi!

Actually saw these in W H Lung in Manchester, but unfortunately my freezer is a bit full atm. Hope they stick around long enough for me to buy a pack.
